Kids ask questions, lots of them. What's with the eggs? Why are we eating at a restaurant when you say we're not allowed to leave the house? Good questions! So, instead of getting into the blood of Christ and our sins and all that stuff, this is what I do:
A lot of churches use Easter egg hunts to explain Easter to young minds. Instead of that, I have a "find things I've lost so that you are preoccupied and I can watch 'Orange is the New Black'" hunt. Every year around this time, it amazes me how many things I've lost and how long it takes my kid to find them. I throw her a few pieces of chocolate for every item she finds and it's enough to keep her motivated and looking for more.
Unless Easter is really about Jesus and rising and what not, just do what I do.
